PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
White crystals or powder. Soluble in water, its aqueous solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol. Weathering and oxidation in the air to sodium sulfate.
PRODUCT USES
In the field of water treatment, sodium sulfite is used as a deoxidizer for boiler water and oil field injection water, and a dechlorinator for municipal water or industrial water. In wastewater treatment, it is used to reduce hexavalent chromium salts to low-toxic trivalent chromium salts, and can precipitate and separate silver and mercury from wastewater. At present, sulfurous acid is more used in small and medium-sized boilers and boilers operating at pressures below 5. 88MPa, usually prepared into a 2% to 10% solution. The dosage of sodium sulfite is usually 0. 076g/L. It is best to add an appropriate amount of catalyst, such as salts of Cu, Co, Mn, and Ni, to increase the deoxygenation rate. When the boiler is out of use, it can be filled with alkaline deoxygenated water that has been deoxygenated and added with about 200mg/L sodium sulfite to protect the metal from corrosion. When removing excess free chlorine from water, sodium sulfite should be used in combination with sodium bisulfite or sulfur dioxide. In addition, as a deoxidizer for oil field oil production and water injection, as long as 10 mg/L of sodium sulfite is added, the corrosion of dissolved oxygen on the well pipe can be controlled. In addition, sodium sulfite is used as a raw material for producing sodium thiosulfate in chemical production, and is also a stabilizer for viscose fibers, a bactericide for beer bottles, an engraving agent for glass mirrors and slates, a fabric bleaching component and deoxidizer, and a developer for the photosensitive industry.
